Starting and stopping¶
From the start signal to carrying load takes about 16 seconds.

The start sequence¶
- Pre-start alarm, 6 s. The warning horn sounds before the starter engages. In AUTO this runs alongside the 3 s confirmation delay, so the longer of the two wins. Screen reads
START DELAY. - Cranking, 1–3 s. The starter turns the engine at about 210 rpm and the battery sags to roughly 20 V. Screen reads
CRANKINGwith live rpm. - Run-up, ~3 s. The engine catches, flares about 6% over rated, then the governor settles it at 1800 rpm. Oil pressure climbs to around 62 psi.
- Warm-up, 5 s. The set holds at rated speed. The breaker only closes once voltage and frequency are genuinely in band, not just because the timer expired.
- On line. The breaker closes and the set picks up load. Speed and voltage dip briefly, then recover, the way a real set takes block load.
Stopping¶
Stopping reverses it.

A[Breaker opens] --> B[Runs unloaded
60 s cooldown] --> C[Fuel cut] --> D[Coasts to a stop]
B -. start signal returns .-> E[Picks load
straight back up]
If the start signal comes back mid-cooldown, it picks the load straight back up instead of stopping.
If it will not catch¶
It cranks for 10 s, rests 10 s, and tries three times. After the third it locks out with FAIL TO START.
