Closed captions¶
Captions show traffic the player can actually hear, with the speaker's Roblox headshot, alias and channel.
| Kind | Source |

Transcribed live by Roblox speech-to-text, fed from the mic gate, so only audio that really went on the air is transcribed |

Alarm announcements |
Captions are off by default per player. Players switch them on in Utilities → Captions, along with size, history and how long they stay (CaptionSeconds, 10 s by default, counted from the moment the talker releases).
Limits
Speech-to-text is rate limited by Roblox per experience and caps utterances at about ten seconds. Under load, voice captions back off rather than fail. A transmission with no transcript shows "(voice, no transcript)" rather than nothing at all.
Before you replace the caption UI
Transcription happens on the talker's client and is reported to the server. Roblox renders audio only on clients, so a server-side transcriber hears nothing. This is the single most important thing to know before rewriting the caption layer.
RadioInterface and RadioHandset use only tool attributes and the remotes, so either can be swapped without touching the server.
