The screen

Power-up and status lines

On power-up the panel runs a self-test (CATERPILLAR, then the nameplate) and then shows a status line matching whatever the set is doing:

STOPPED · READY · START DELAY · CRANKING · WARM UP · COOLDOWN · STOPPING

The mode sits in the top right corner on every one of them.

Running pages

While the set is running, the screen cycles five pages every 5 seconds. Click a page to see it on a simulated screen, using example readings.

Page Top line Bottom line
1 ON LINE / RUNNING, and the mode kW, volts, hertz
2 Volts, amps, hertz kW, power factor, load percent
3 Rpm, oil pressure Coolant temperature, battery volts
4 Fuel percent, fuel burn in gph Engine run hours
5 Line-to-line and line-to-neutral volts Current on each of the three phases

The per-phase currents on page 5 are deliberately slightly unequal: a real set never sits perfectly balanced.

What interrupts the cycle

  • An unacknowledged warning takes a slot in the rotation and shows its text.
  • A shutdown takes the whole screen, blinking in reverse video, alternating between the fault name and its code.
